Test Courses[]

The Japanese version has a number of test courses remaining in the ROM! Eleven, to be precise!

You can access these levels through the following codes on the map screen: (Use one at a time)

  • 7EEE0316 gets you the first 4 by entering 5 through 8 as the hole.
  • 7EEE0317 gets you the last 7 by entering 2-8 as the hole.

Video footage of the first eight test levels can be seen here.

Test Course 1[]

TestCourse1

This course was used to test out different slopes and dips in the game.

The first 4 test courses might be remnants from this game's days as Special Tee Shot. They all have the same broken borders as opposed to the connected ones in other maps. The enemies could have been added later when the game was being converted.

Test Course 5[]

TestCourse5

A course used to test the single-direction and multi-directional warp pads. This is the first test course to feature the connected course borders, suggesting it was made during or after the conversion from Special Tee Shot.

Test Course 6[]

TestCourse6

This course is an early version of Course 8-3 in the final game. In the final version, the three Gordos have been reduced to a single Gordo who alternates between moving southeast and northwest. The three enemies in the final game are a Gaspar near the start of the course and two Waddle Dees at the end. The latter half of the course has been changed significantly.

This course is made up of various different islands. It's an interesting course, but nothing like it shows up in the final version of the game.

TestCourse9 TestCourse10 TestCourse11

These three courses are about the same, just with some minor differences in each. #9 (pictured left) is flat. #10 is a little bigger with slopes at the edges. #11 is the same as #10, only with the start point in a different location.
